As the mental health of youth becomes serious, schools can play an important role in identifying needs as to mental health and linking related services. This requires building an effective link and encouraging cooperation between schools and local community mental health services. This study seeks to explore ways to cooperate between schools and the community through interviews with 30 education practitioners from 17 provincial education offices. The analysis found that they resolved the issues and problems together through cooperation, the perception of school members changed, and that the school¡¯s capacity to mental health issues have improved. When it comes to the structure of cooperation, establishment of system, regular communications, definition of roles, and clear implementation guidelines were considered important. In the process of cooperation, the attitude of cooperation, promoting understanding among institutions, response to needs and requirements, immediate resolution of obstacles, and building up competencies were important. Based on these findings and conclusions, effective ways of cooperation between schools and the community are proposed.
